This blog is intended to share resources with people interested in transgender mental health and wellness including the sale of the book Transforming Practice (Toronto: Ethica Press, 2013) for whom the site is named. And while that is likely obvious to most, we think ethical internet usage and blogging practices require an overt disclosure,
In addition, beginning December 1, 2009, the FTC requires bloggers to provide disclosures whenever there could be hidden interests or unspoken biases related to recommendations. To be clear, resources recommended here are shared primarily for informational purposes. The author usually provides some context and assessment to help interested individuals decide if they might be interested.
According to the FTC rules, if we interview someone and they grab the bill for lunch, we would need to specify this. Similarly if we use an Amazon Affiliate link that generates a small referral commission. Disclaimers all over the place.
This would be tedious for us and a continual eye sore for readers. But rules is rules.
